Growing up in Germany, Elke started her fitness career at age 17 after she had been diagnosed with slight scoliosis. Soon she decided to become a fitness and aerobics instructor teaching various formats like Step Aerobics, Kick-boxing, and Bodypump. She also competed in the Germany Nationals for Bodybuilding. After having moved to the United States in 2000 she found her love for Pilates and became certified with Stott/Merrithew Pilates. Elke takes continuing educational workshops for Pilates regularly with Merrithew as well as with BASI and other Pilates programs to keep learning new exercises, modifications, progressions and regressions for athletic clients as well physically limited clients.
Elke has had her own private studio for 10 years in Costa Mesa and has been teaching Pilates for groups, as well as private sessions for “special needs” clients. She also is a Personal Trainer and likes to integrate Cardio and Weight Training classes into her programs with certain clients.
Stephanie Locke received her Pilates certification with Body Arts and Science International in 2013. As former competitive gymnast, Stephanie discovered the overall benefits of Pilates while attending California State University, Fullerton, where she received her Bachelors degree in Communication. Stephanie’s passion for Pilates and drive to learn more about the method and industry grew after college. She was awarded the Kathy Grant Memorial Scholarship for the BASI Pilates Teacher Training program and soon after she joined the BASI Pilates team as the Marketing Manager and later taking on the role as Director of Teacher Training for Club Pilates. Throughout her career, Stephanie continues to grow in her practice and strives to help her clients achieve their health and fitness goals through the Principles of Pilates
Jodi was the former owner of The Pilates Body of OC for 11 years and holds many certifications for teaching Pilates and Fitness classes. She began as a professional dancer with the LA Clippers and the LA Lakers, while training in Pilates, found her passion for fitness. In 2003 received her certification in the Ron Fletcher Method followed by another Pilates certification with BASI’s full comprehensive program. In addition to Pilates, Jodi is qualified to teach Zumba, Burn at the Barre, Booty Barre, Hip Hop Hustle, LaBlast, and Jillian Michael’s Body Shred. To give depth to her training, she has a certification in First Aid/CPR/AED and with AFAA for Group Fitness. Jodi believes in continuing education and recently completed a certification for Personal Training with NESTA.
Sheela’s Pilates journey began over 10 years ago when she discovered Pilates as an alternative form of rehabilitation and strengthening for her back injuries. She is a BASI Certified Pilates Instructor who focuses on form while offering a full body challenging workout. Sheela also has a background in Classical Indian Dance and Yoga. She enjoys hiking, bike riding and loves the outdoors. Sheela’s passion for Pilates helped her tremendously through the years and she continues to learn more each day through her practice and teaching.
Marta Berry teaches Pilates since 2007. She holds a Mat certification with BASI and a Comprehensive certification with Peak Pilates. Marta teaches Classic Pilates focusing in good alignment and specific movement of the body.
