Our Instructors

elkeBarrasElke Barras
Growing up in Germany, Elke started her fitness career at age 17 after she had been diagnosed with slight scoliosis. Soon she decided to become a fitness and aerobics instructor teaching various formats like Step Aerobics, Kick-boxing, and Bodypump. She also competed in the Germany Nationals for Bodybuilding. After having moved to the United States in 2000 she found her love for Pilates and became certified with Stott/Merrithew Pilates. Elke takes continuing educational workshops for Pilates regularly with Merrithew as well as with BASI and other Pilates programs to keep learning new exercises, modifications, progressions and regressions for athletic clients as well physically limited clients.

Elke has had her own private studio for 10 years in Costa Mesa and has been teaching Pilates for groups, as well as private sessions for “special needs” clients. She also is a Personal Trainer and likes to integrate Cardio and Weight Training classes into her programs with certain clients.

danDan is a retired engineering professional; he enjoys teaching Pilates as a second career and employing his sense of humor and communication skills while instructing and edifying clients in the Pilates Method.  Dan is a graduate of the BASI Pilates Comprehensive Teacher Certification Program, he is PMA (Pilates Method Alliance) certified and is also certified through Carolyne Anthony with The Center for Women’s Fitness to teach Pilates to prenatal and postnatal clients.  Teaching Pilates for Dan has been very rewarding thanks to feedback from his clients that they appreciate the Pilates Method and feel enriched after each session and look forward to their next session.  Dan is experienced in teaching clients of all ages from their early 20’s to clients in their golden years.



Sheela Srinath
Sheela’s Pilates journey began over 10 years ago when she discovered Pilates as an alternative form of rehabilitation and strengthening for her back injuries. She is a BASI Certified Pilates Instructor who focuses on form while offering a full body challenging workout. Sheela also has a background in Classical Indian Dance and Yoga. She enjoys hiking, bike riding and loves the outdoors. Sheela’s passion for Pilates helped her tremendously through the years and she continues to learn more each day through her practice and teaching.

jodiJodi Mikkelson-Adamo
Jodi was the former owner of The Pilates Body of OC for 11 years and holds many certifications for teaching Pilates and Fitness classes. She began as a professional dancer with the LA Clippers and the LA Lakers, while training in Pilates, found her passion for fitness.  In 2003 received her certification in the Ron Fletcher Method followed by another Pilates certification with BASI’s full comprehensive program. In addition to Pilates, Jodi is qualified to teach Zumba, Burn at the Barre, Booty Barre, Hip Hop Hustle, LaBlast, and Jillian Michael’s Body Shred. To give depth to her training, she has a certification in First Aid/CPR/AED and with AFAA for Group Fitness. Jodi believes in continuing education and recently completed a certification for Personal Training with NESTA.

laceyLacey Venanzi
Lacey was born and raised in Southern California and was first introduced to pilates as a rehabilitative practice for Scoliosis. Her background began with a career in opera singing where she studied many movement practices such as Alexander Technique, the Franklin Method, and Bioenergetics. She obtained her Pilates certification through Basi Pilates under the guidance of Rael Isakowitz and Constance Holder. Lacey is passionate about Pilates as a rehabilitative method that can be accessible to anyone able bodied or injured. It is her goal that every session brings you a deeper knowledge of your body and the experience of movement as medicine. Lacey is currently enrolled in a Doctoral program at SCUHS for chiropractic medicine and rehabilitative therapy.

Britanny Brittany Willut
Born and raised in Southern California, Brittany first discovered pilates in college due to a dance injury. It was here where she found her passion for Pilates and decided to be certified. She has been teaching dance since 2005 and Pilates Since 2011 throughout the Los Angeles and Orange County area.  Along with her certification, Brittany has received a B.A in Theater Arts; dance at Loyola Marymount University. She has been a dancer all her life and has been featured in music videos, fashion shows and live stage performances.She has been a guest speaker truly dedicates herself to each person who wants to learn. She enjoys helping others better their health and accompanies the clients in establishing goals for themselves. “When I watch a client grow and succeed through hard work and dedication, its at that very moment when I remember why I teach.”
